Progression of Grace

Just a few ramblings about faith, strength, weight loss, and running.

but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength;
they will fly up on wings like eagles;
they will run and not be tired;
they will walk and not be weary.

Isaiah 40:31 (CEB)

Uh-May-Zing Recovery Run!

So…yeah…I still have this cold. It is almost gone, however I have now given it to my beautiful wife (and to the baby on board too I guess). So…no winning points there. Anyway - I ran 8 miles Thursday, but took Friday and Saturday off to shake this cold off once and for all.

Today I was still feeling pretty crappy, however after eating a much-too-big lunch, kinda felt like I should run. Then I started to talk myself out of it. Then I started to hate myself. So I laced up for an easy three miles. They ended up being a super-fast (for my slothy self) three miles! Finished three in just under 31:00, and I felt GREAT! No one told me that your short runs are faster after a really long run!

Moral of the story: When in doubt, don’t hate yourself. Lace up!

You can call me Ocho Beast!
The last 1.5 miles weren’t pretty, but they are done.
That’s eight in the bank, folks! Time for food….

On tap for tomorrow morning: 8 miles!

Do chips and queso count as carb loading?

I have the freedom to do anything, but not everything is helpful. I have the freedom to do anything, but I won’t be controlled by anything.
1 Corinthians 6:12 - my favorite verse when’s struggling with food and exercise choices!
So I am rarely a soda drinker, but these statistics regarding the effect that one coke has on the body scare the crap out of me. No only if they had one of these for macaroni and cheese….maybe then I could get over my carb and cheese addiction.

Slightly off plan today…

Confession Time - I was supposed to run 8 miles today, however it turned into 3 as I am still getting over a nasty cold. I cross-trained Monday, but had to take the rest of the week off. The three went pretty well, but I will need to up my distance this week to make up some ground.

There also may have been an unfortunate macaroni and cheese incident. But everything else was high-protein - I swear!

There…I feel better.

Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.

Holy crap! Buying our first set of diapers suddenly makes this soon-to-be dad thing much more real. 18 weeks to go! Can’t wait!
